Dr Ruth Bush's first book, Publishing Africa in French: Literary Institutions and Decolonization 1945-1967, has won the African Literature Association's First Book Award. The book looks at the influence of African instiutions in shaping the global French literary marketplace, challenging commonplace accounts of a unilateral influence from Paris.
