Waves of Change
Waves of Change brings together anthropology, climate science and animation to examine the intersection of social, economic and climatic impacts on young people’s lives and futures. We encourage young people to recognize that their voices matter, inspiring them to imagine positive futures and finding tangible strategies to make these achievable. Our collaborative and youth-centered approach is based on co-production of ethnographic animation, i.e. animated films that blend young people’s lived experiences with imaginative scenarios. The team includes Dr Camilla Morelli (Anthropology, UoB), Professor Dani Schmidt (Earth Sciences, UoB) and Sophie Marsh (animation director). We are funded by the British Academy, the AHRC-UKRI, the ESRC, the Cabot Institute for the Environment, Research England-UKRI and NERC-UKRI.
