Press release issued: 23 June 2017

The Worldwide Universities Network Global Africa Group (WUN GAG) launched its inaugural Strategic Research Workshop at the University of Ghana in Accra. A two-day event brought together over 60 researchers from 12 WUN partner universities and 10 other universities across four continents.

The workshop brought together faculty, researchers and postgraduate students from a multitude of countries in an effort to facilitate and promote research collaboration on five priority themes the Group feels are particularly pertinent to human development in the 21st century in Africa:

  • Environmental change and food security
  • Public health
  • Governance, inequality and social inclusion
  • Higher education and research capacity
  • Natural resources for inclusive growth and sustainable development

Representing the University of Bristol at the workshop were Adrian Flint (Social and Community Medicine), Rachael Gooberman-Hill (Director, Elizabeth Blackwell Institute), Susan Jim (IAS/WUN Research Development Manager) and Chinyere Uche (Economics, Finance and Management).
