Young Researchers Colloquium 2013, a great success

29 June 2013

Bristol Vision Institute are delighted at the success of the 2013 Young Researchers Colloquium

The annual event was this year hosted by the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, Cardiff University and saw a record number of abstract submissions. The quality of both the poster presentations and talks was also at an all-time high, across the board.

Dr Paul Hill, University of Bristol stated that the standard of the talks was “higher than he had witnessed at some international conferences”

The colloquium encourages researchers who are in the early stages of their career, to present their vision research in a formal conference setting which is intended to be an encouraging environment, less intimidating than large-scale conferences.

The Bristol Vision Institute Management team have seen the The Researchers Colloquium grow year on year since 2008 when BVI was born and wish to warmly thank this years’ local organisers and host: Dr Jon Erichsen and Professor John Wilde, School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, Cardiff University for arranging such an enjoyable and interesting day, which included a first for the colloquium – prize giving and entertainment by UCAN Productions, to close the day.

Bristol Vision Institute’s Young Researchers Colloquium is organised in partnership with three universities: University of Bristol, Cardiff University and the University West of England. Another first for the colloquium was that this year, the invitation to submit abstracts was extended to our new GW4 partners: Universities of Bath and Exeter and we look forward to next years’ event, which will be hosted by University West of England.
