Computer systems which can learn from us and then help to carry out complex tasks may become a reality thanks to new research by BVI members.

Computer systems which can learn from us and then help to carry out complex tasks may become a reality thanks to new research by BVI members. The €3.2M EUfunded project, ‘COGNITO’, will investigate the learning of human sensory-motor activities. Dr Andrew Calway and Dr Walterio Mayol-Cuevas from the Visual Information Laboratory (Dept Computer Science) will use data captured from on-body sensors to design systems that can observe and then learn how people do things. The Bristol team will carry out research into advanced computer vision algorithms to monitor human activities using on-body cameras. Contact: Andrew.Calway@bristol.ac.uk.
