Research carried out at Bristol into the impact of a ban on beak trimming has been instrumental in governmental decision in 2016 not to proceed with a ban.  Results of an intact beak trial demonstrated that a ban would present a significant health and welfare risk to large flocks. Hence Bristol recommended that the ban should not go ahead at the present time.
