Finance and Investments Committee

The Finance and Investments Committee provides the Board of Trustees with assurance on the development and delivery of key elements of the University Strategy, specifically the financial sustainability, performance and compliance, investment opportunities, and capital expenditure on physical and digital infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities and terms of reference

The Finance and Investments Committee is one of the committees of the Board of Trustees.

It is responsible for:

  • financial strategy
  • budget setting
  • annual accounts
  • monitoring of investment activity
  • capital expenditure.

Membership

As a group, the committee members are empowered to make decisions. They can take advice from others attending the meeting.

Members and roles

The Finance and Investments Committee has up to 13 members.

  • Mr Nick Joicey, Independent Trustee (Chair)
  • Mr Nick Keveth, Independent Trustee (Deputy Chair)
  • Mr Freddie Quek, Independent Trustee
  • Dr Jane Khawaja, Professional Services Member of the Board of Trustees
  • Mr Jonathan Punter, Additional Member
  • Mr Jack Boyer, Chair of the Board of Trustees
  • Professor Evelyn Welch, Vice-Chancellor and President

If we identify a skill gap in the committee, we will recruit members with this expertise. These individuals usually do not work for the University and will take the role of 'Additional Member'. The committee can appoint up to 3 additional members, who are not members of the Board of Trustees.

Attendees

The following staff may attend meetings and offer advice to committee members:

  • Chief Financial Officer
  • Other staff as required

They do not have authority to make committee decisions and are not eligible to vote in meetings.
