Dr Barratt is a Consultant Respiratory physician and Honorary Research Associate. She co-leads the Bristol Interstitial Lung Disease (BILD) centre, a tertiary referral centre managing >1000 ILD referrals annually.

She has a first class Honours in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Nottingham and completed a Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellowship and PhD in the field of Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (2016).

Dr Barratt directs a varied programme of research of both clinical and basic science studies investigating mechanisms underpinning the pathology of interstitial lung disease as part of the University of Bristol Academic Respiratory Unit (ARU).
