Alice Milne
Alice Milne is qualitative researcher in the Academic Respiratory Unit (ARU) and is currently conducting a Doctoral Research fellowship with the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). This follows the successful completion of her NIHR pre-doctoral fellowship.
Throughout her current fellowship, she will be delivering the STANDOUT MPE study (Standardising Outcomes in Malignant Pleural Effusion Interventional Trials), for which she is Chief Investigator.
This international study aims to support the standardisation of outcome reporting by establishing consensus on outcomes to be reported as a minimum in future interventional MPE clinical trials. This will be achieved through the development of a Core Outcome Set.
Alice is committed to successfully embedding high-quality, targeted qualitative enquiry within clinical research, as well as developing standalone exploratory qualitative studies to inform the development of future trials. Through this, the views and experiences of patients and their families are kept at the heart of respiratory research.
