Integrative Neuroscience and Behaviour
We investigate the neurobiological mechanisms underlying adaptive and cognitive behaviour. Therefore, studies are conducted at the molecular, cellular, neuroendocrine, neurophysiological, behavioural, and systems level. In our integrative research designs we apply state-of-the-art epigenetic, lentiviral, electrophysiological and imaging technologies to study changes in neuron function which are at the basis of behavioural responses and memory formation.
Discovery of how we adapt to and learn from significant events in our lives is of great importance to obtain insight into stress-related psychiatric disorders such as major depression and anxiety and, thus, to improve treatment of these debilitating disorders.
