Single Honours
International Foundation Programme at Bristol
The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is a one-year academic course. It is aimed at high-achieving international students who want to progress to an undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol.
Through intensive classes, you will develop your academic language, critical thinking, subject knowledge and independent study skills. These skills are essential for you to fulfil your potential on an undergraduate degree course at Bristol.
Our teaching is designed to help you transition into university life. You will be taught by our highly qualified academic staff and will have access to all University resources and facilities. You will study with other international students from around the world.
The University and the city are really active - there's always something going on. The city is so vibrant - every day you discover something new.
Career prospects

When you pass the International Foundation Programme at the required level, you will be guaranteed a place at the University of Bristol.
If you are considering our BDS Dentistry degree, you will be guaranteed an interview.
Course structure

There are four pathways for you to choose from depending on your chosen undergraduate degree.
Within your pathway you will study units that prepare you for your future degree.
You will attend lectures, tutorials, and classes. Many students on the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics pathway will also have practical and laboratory sessions. The Dentistry pathway includes practical and laboratory sessions as well as clinical observations. You will be expected to engage in independent study, as well as having supervised teaching sessions.

You will have a personal tutor to support your academic progress, and you can access wellbeing advisers throughout your studies to make sure your time at Bristol is rewarding. They will also offer guidance on progressing onto an undergraduate course within Bristol or elsewhere in the UK.
