Vertical Aerospace Black Engineering Scholarship

These scholarships are part of the Black Futures Scholarships. They are for Black UK applicants, towards your first year of undergraduate study and employability opportunities.

Up to six awards of £3,500 are available in 2024/25. The payments will be £2,000 in the first year and £750 in the second and third years. We also offer up to £1,000 of funding support for employability opportunities such as internships, placements or summer research programmes.

Successful applicants will be enrolled on the Futures Scholarship programme. You will be supported by the Futures Scholarship Coordinator to access career guidance and advice on University opportunities for personal and professional development. Recipients are expected to come to meetings with relevant University team members.

These awards are funded by donations from Vertical Aerospace. Vertical Aerospace may offer the scholarship recipients:

  • site visits
  • technical mentoring and opportunities to link in with those who have completed similar programmes
  • future internship placements.

Eligibility

You can apply if you:

  • would describe you ethnicity as one of the following:
    • Black African
    • Black Caribbean
    • Black Other
    • Mixed – White and Black Caribbean
    • Mixed – White and Black African
    • Other mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other)
  • are a UK applicant for full-time undergraduate stud
  • have an offer (or are awaiting a decision) to study for an engineering undergraduate degree starting in 2024/25
  • can demonstrate financial need.
