University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships: frequently asked questions
Who can apply for University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships, and which courses are eligible?
To be eligible for the University's undergraduate scholarships, you must:
- have applied to any undergraduate course at the University of Bristol, with the exception of medicine, dentistry and veterinary science;
- start your undergraduate course in September 2025;
- be classed as an overseas student for fee-paying purposes;
- not already be in receipt of other funding which would equate to more than the full cost of tuition fees alongside a Bristol scholarship;
- have a UCAS ID, Student ID or Kaplan ID;
- meet or exceed the entry requirements as stated in your formal UCAS offer before 31 August 2025 and confirm the University of Bristol as your firm choice offer in UCAS (subject to UCAS deadlines).
Do I need to have applied for a course at the University of Bristol before I apply for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships?
Yes. You need to have already applied to study at the University of Bristol starting in 2025 to apply for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships.
You will need to include your UCAS ID, Student ID or Kaplan ID on the application form. We will not consider your application without this.
Do I need to have an offer to study at the University of Bristol to be able to apply for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships?
No. As long as you meet the eligibility requirements and you have submitted an application to study at the University of Bristol, you can apply for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships, even if you have not yet received an offer to study.
I am applying for more than one course at the University of Bristol. How should I complete the international scholarships application form?
If you have applied to study more than one course at the University of Bristol, select the course you would most like to be considered for.
If the course you intend to study changes from your initial choice, you must contact international-scholarships@bristol.ac.uk with the details.
What documents do I need to apply for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships?
You do not need to submit any documentation when applying for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships.
You just need to complete the online international scholarships application form after you have submitted an application to study at the University of Bristol.
What is a UCAS ID, student ID or Kaplan ID?
UCAS ID (UCAS Personal ID): This is the number given to you in your welcome email when you registered with UCAS. If you cannot remember what your UCAS ID is, you can search for it on the UCAS Track website.
Student ID: If you have applied via the International Foundation programme pathway, use your University of Bristol student ID. If you are a Global Transfer Programme student, you will receive a student ID after applying. This is the number given to you in your welcome email when you applied to the Global Transfer Programme. If you are unsure of your student ID, contact your International Partnerships Team at global-transfer-students@bristol.ac.uk.
Kaplan ID: If you are a Kaplan International College (KICL) student, you will need to use your Kaplan ID number.
Is there an age restriction for applying for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships?
No. There is no age restriction for students applying for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships.
Am I eligible for a University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarship if I select Bristol as my insurance choice in UCAS?
You do not need to decide your firm and insurance choices in UCAS at the point of submitting a University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarship application.
If I have applied for more than one University scholarship, can I still I apply for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships?
By completing the application form, you will be considered for all scholarships and bursaries that you are eligible for.
You can only accept one tuition fee scholarship from the University. However, you may still be eligible for a scholarship or bursary towards your living costs, which we can award in addition to a tuition fee scholarship.
Do the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships cover living expenses or air fare?
All University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships are towards tuition fees only and will not cover any living expenses, air fares or other expenses.
However, you may still be eligible for a scholarship or bursary, which can be awarded in addition to a tuition fee scholarship.
Under UKVI regulations, you will need to show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself while studying in the UK. Find out more about money required for student visa applications.

Do I need to meet any additional English language requirements to be able to apply for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships?
No. You will not need to meet any additional English language requirements to apply for the University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarships.
However, you will need to meet any conditions of the academic offer for your course to be successfully awarded a University of Bristol international undergraduate scholarship. This may include English language requirements.
Will I receive individual feedback on my application if I am unsuccessful?
No. Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications we receive, we cannot provide individual feedback to applicants.
Will a list of successful applicants be published on the University's website?
No. We contact all applicants directly by email and we do not publish the total number of allocated awards.
Can the University give me an early decision?
No. The University must follow the correct procedure to make sure that all applicants are considered fairly.
