Design: PEAR
- Cross-sectional study of 1200 Year 9 students in schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and BANES.
- Objective measures of how active children are in relation to where they go.
- Subjective measures of physical, social and personal environmental determinants of physical activity and use of environment.
- Examine physical activity and other lifestyle behaviours in relation to obesity and pubertal status.
- Examine physical activity and lifestyle behaviours in relation to urban/rural demographic of local area.
- Examine stress levels on a weekday in relation to time spent outside.
Design: PEACH
- Longitudinal study starting in the last year of primary and repeating measures in the first year of secondary school, with a final follow up towards the end of secondary education (year 10/11)
- Objective measures of how active children are in relation to where they go.
- Physical and social environmental determinants of physical activity.
- Examine physical activity and other lifestyle behaviours in relation to obesity and pubertal status.
- Examine eating behaviours and snacking outside of the home (year 7).
- Examine stress levels on a weekday and weekend day in relation to time spent outside (year 10/11).
