Workshops
A series of workshops have been held to explore different ideas about change.
Social Practice Theory
Our first workshop was led by Dr. Stanley Blue, who is an expert in ‘Social Practice Theory’ and one of the authors of Blue, Shove, Carmona, and Kelly. (2014). ‘Theories of Practice and Public Health: Understanding (Un) Healthy Practices’, Critical Public Health. This workshop examined Social Practice Theory and applied this to disability equality.
Conversation Analysis
Our second workshop called ‘What’s going on here?’ was led by Professor Charles Antaki and Professor Celia Kitzinger and explored conversation analysis, how interaction matters, and how an understanding of interaction can be useful in thinking about how to ‘get things changed’.
Power and Resistance
Our third workshop called ‘Power and Resistance’ was led by Professor Andrew Sturdy and Helen Ballard and took a critical look at management theories of change, and particularly the macro changes associated with the ‘big ideas’ of policy.

Co-Production and Change
Our fourth workshop was led by Bernd Sass from Disability Rights UK, and examined ‘Co-production and Change’. This workshop discussed co-production and what this means for the project.

Co-Production Day
Our fifth workshop was held on the 20th September 2016. The Getting Things Changed team was joined by the the Forget-me-Nots from Swindon, the Misfits from Bristol, Disabled Students’ Research Group and the Lived Experience Team from Tower Hamlets.
