Performance Squad athletes give up their time to help coach Tag Rugby sessions at a local Primary School.

Performance Squad Rugby members Max Cresswell, Jordan Brodley, Tilly Vaughan Fowler, Jack Maplesden, Ben Gompels and Sue Neumann, volunteered their time to visit a local Primary school in Bristol.

Birdwell School in Long Ashton were delighted to welcome the students who helped run the Tag Rugby sessions. At the end of the week the school organised a Year 5/6 tournament and three of the students helped to referee the games.

Micaela Saunders, Sports Coach at Birdwell said "I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the amazing Bristol University students, who gave up their time to come in and help with our tag rugby, especially Max, Tilly and Jordan who had the unenviable job of refereeing 10 tag rugby matches back to back! They did so in good spirit, and offered the children lot's of positive encouragement and coaching along the way! The children were so excited to have some elite athletes come in and share their experiences with us, they were all so enthusiastic and engaging, a real credit to Bristol Uni and definitely some future stars in whatever path they choose to follow"

Joe Goodman, Head of Rugby at Bristol University said "The students were delighted to attend the school as it provides them with the opportunity to pass on their knowledge and inspire future generations to take up Rugby, with the hope that each child will benefit from the social and physical fun elements involved in participating in a truly unique sport"
