Quantum Information Science and Technologies CDT
Funded in 2024, the new Quantum Information Science and Technologies (QIST) CDT an EPSRC funded CDT jointly hosted at University of Bristol and University of Sussex designed to train the best quantum scientists and engineers, capable of working in all areas of the emerging quantum technology industry sector.
The four-year programme has been designed by leading academics and industry partners and includes a broad range of taught modules at Sussex and at Bristol in year one, leading to a three year research project phase. In addition to conducting world-class research, students will also have the opportunity to gain professional skills in science policy, entrepreneurship, and teaching.

Quantum Engineering CDT
First funded in 2010, the Quantum Engineering (QE) CDT recruited it’s final PhD cohort in 2023. To date, the QE CDT has graduated over 70 PhD students with many more currently completing their research phase. Owing to this longevity, the QE CDT has amassed a global alumni network who are now influencing the quantum sector in industry, within academia, or as founders.
While no further students will be recruited, the QE CDT will continue to showcase it’s impact and success on the following page: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/quantum-engineering/
