Information for patients

We want to learn from patients and carers from a surgery that uses, is about to use or has previously used consultations by phone, email or internet video (such as Skype).

We want to hear from you because, either:

A)           You have spoken to the GP by phone or used email or Skype, instead of going to the surgery to see your doctor face to face. We would like to understand what it was like for you, what you found good and what was less good about this consultation.

OR

B)            We want to learn from those who have not spoken to the GP by phone or using email or skype, instead of going to the surgery to see the doctor face to face even though the practice offers at least one of these options. We would like to find out from you why you didn’t use any of these and what would be your view on receiving a consultation in this alternative way.

The practice will identify suitable patients and a letter of invitation to participate in an audio recorded interview with one of the research team will be sent to the patient by the practice on the researcher's behalf.

Further information can be found here: Information Sheet for Patients and Carers Invited to Interview (PDF, 468kB)

In addition, the researchers may seek your permission to observe your consultation with your GP or nurse. This may be during a visit to the clinic or during a consultation held via the telephone, email or internet video (such as Skype). Information about your consultation will only be collected with your permission.
