BPI Meet the Team

25 September 2024, 4.00 PM - 25 September 2024, 4.45 PM

Hepple Theatre in Geographical Sciences

On Wednesday 25th September from 14:00-16:00 the Bristol Poverty Institute (BPI) will be hosting our BPI Seedcorn Projects Showcase and Call Launch event in the Hepple Theatre in Geographical Sciences. Immediately afterwards, we are holding a ‘Meet the BPI’ informal drop-in session in the same venue. This session is open to University of Bristol researchers and members of our Professional Services staff interested in poverty and poverty-relevant research. Come along to this informal networking event to meet the team who run the BPI, find out what we do, learn more about the support and engagement opportunities available through the BPI, and mingle with like-minded colleagues over a drink. There will be no formal agenda for this drop-in session, so come along whenever suits you. The preceding Seedcorn fund event will be moving into a mingle for the last half hour or so, so do feel free to join us from around 15:30 onwards (or just come along to the whole Seedcorn event, if you can!).

The BPI is dedicated to multi-disciplinary research on the causes, effects and measurement of poverty around the world to inform effective policy and practice. We take a multidimensional approach to poverty, drawing upon, supporting and catalysing poverty-relevant research across all of the University's Faculties and encouraging researchers to explore the potential poverty-relevant aspects of their research. Over the years we have delivered a wide range of activities on diverse topics, from environmental resilience to education, from debt to disability, from gender to geographies of inequality, from migration to menarche and women's rights, and from water to wellbeing.

This is an internal event for University of Bristol staff. We will not be running a registration process as it is an informal drop-in event. Please do make sure you are signed up to the BPI mailing list if you plan to attend, however, as we will use this mailing list to notify everyone in case we need to cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances. To register for the mailing list, please send an email to bristol-poverty-institute@bristol.ac.uk

Register for the BPI Seedcorn Projects Showcase and Call Launch.

Please be aware that the Bristol Poverty Institute plan to take photographs during the event, which we will share online (including our X/Twitter feed, website and/or blog). If you are uncomfortable with this, please notify a member of the BPI team on the day and we will endeavour to try and avoid including you in any photographs. Due to the nature of the event we cannot guarantee you won’t be in any images, but we will try and avoid taking photos where you are clearly visible.
