Meet the Bristol Poverty Institute

11 October 2023, 3.00 PM - 11 October 2023, 5.00 PM

HEPPLE Theatre, School of Geographical Sciences University of Bristol University Road Bristol BS8 1RL

Are you a University of Bristol researcher or a member of our Professional Services staff interested in poverty and poverty-relevant research? Come along to this informal networking event to meet the team who run the Bristol Poverty Institute (BPI), find out what we do, learn more about the support and engagement opportunities available through the BPI, and mingle with like-minded colleagues over a cup of tea or a glass of wine. There will be no formal agenda for this drop-in session, so come along whenever suits you for however long you like.

The BPI is dedicated to multi-disciplinary research on the causes, effects and measurement of poverty around the world to inform effective policy and practice. We take a multidimensional approach to poverty, drawing upon, supporting and catalysing poverty-relevant research across all of the University's Faculties and encouraging researchers to explore the potential poverty-relevant aspects of their research. Over the years we have delivered a wide range of activities on diverse topics, from environmental resilience to education, from debt to disability, from gender to geographies of inequality, from migration to menarche and women's rights, and from water to wellbeing and mental health.

This is an internal event for University of Bristol staff. Please register your interest to give us an idea of numbers for catering, and so we can contact all potential attendees if we need to move venue or reschedule for any reason.

We also encourage you to join us at the Cabot Institute annual lecture later that evening which will be exploring important issues around a just transition and leaving no one behind.

Please be aware that the Bristol Poverty Institute plan to take photographs during the event, which we will share online (including our Twitter feed, website and/or blog). If you are uncomfortable with this, please notify a member of the BPI team on the day and we will endeavour to try and avoid including you in any photographs. Due to the nature of the event we cannot guarantee you won’t be in any images, but we will try and avoid taking photos where you are clearly visible.
