Development Initiatives

Development Initiatives (DI) are an independent international development organisation working on the use of data to drive poverty eradication and sustainable development. Their vision is a world without poverty that invests in human security and where everyone shares the benefits of opportunity and growth. They work to ensure that decisions about the allocation of finance and resources result in an end to poverty, increase the resilience of the world’s most vulnerable people, and ensure no one is left behind.

In March 2019, building on a series of previous discussions between the Directors of DI and BPI, we came together to plan and deliver an NGO-Academia Collaboration Forum focussed on Poverty and Malnutrition in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. This event brought together over fifty attendees from a range of sectors and organisations to explore how NGOs and academics can effectively work together to address key development challenges. In addition to DI themselves the event also included presentations from several other NGOs including Concern Worldwide, Send A Cow and Save the Children UK, alongside presentations from high-profile academics from the UK, Finland, Canada and South Africa. For more information on this event, including presentations, check out our event webpage. Both BPI and DI are keen to work together again in the future, building on this highly successful and engaging event.
