Who is organising and paying for this study?

This study is organised (sponsored) by North Bristol NHS Trust and coordinated by the Bristol Randomised Trials Collaboration at the University of Bristol. The Chief Investigator is Dr Fergus Caskey.

The study is being funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) which is the NHS’s research funding body. The NIHR works to ensure that Department of Health funding drives research from bench to bedside for the benefit of patients and the economy. The NIHR is currently funding research under the theme of ‘complex health and care needs in older people’. The study was funded under the NIHR’s Health Technology Assessment programme (project number 15/57/39). The Prepare for Kidney Care protocol is publicly available on the NIHR site, here.

All research within the NHS is reviewed by an independent group of people called a Research Ethics Committee.  This study has been reviewed and was given approval by the South Central-Berkshire Research Ethics Committee on 5th May 2017, ref: 17/SC/0070.
