COMET study

Welcome to the COMET study website!

COMET (Choice of Moisturiser in Eczema Treatment) was a feasibility trial of emollients (moisturisers) for the treatment of children with eczema (ISRCTN21828118), funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Research for Patient Benefit (PB-PG-0712-28056).

Recruitment to the COMET feasibility study closed on 30 April 2015. The study findings were published in 2016.  A complete list of outputs from the study can be found in the Outputs page.

Building on the success of the COMET, the NIHR HTA funded the follow-on trial, Best Emollients for Eczema (BEE), results of which were published in 2022. Find out more via the study website.
