Research interests
Dr Wen Zhang is a Lecturer in Business Analytics. She obtained her PhD in Operations Research and Management Science from Warwick Business School. She has a broad interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and simulation. Her current research focuses on AI for social good (such as using natural language processing techniques to analyse CSR/ESG reports, legal documents, to generate insights for decision making effectively and efficiently), AI for professional service (such as the application in the insurance industry), and simulation optimisation (Bayesian optimisation, multiobjective optimisation and evolutionary algorithm). The source code of her research can be found on Github, and her research can be found on Google Scholar.
She is a recipient of the Warwick Business School Scholarship for PhD and the 2016 Winter simulation conference diversity award. She is a Fellow (D2) of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). As a Principal and Co-Investigator, she has secured £1.5 million from major UK research councils including UKRI and ESRC.
I welcome enquiries from prospective students with strong foundations in business analytics/operations research/operations management/natural language processing. Candidates should be proficient in at least one programming language (such as Matlab, Python, or R) and have research interests aligned with simulation optimization or AI applications for social impact.
