Biography
I qualified from United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's and St Thomas's in Medicine in 1997 (including an intercalated BSc in Experimental Pathology from Guy's Hospital in 1995). I then completed medical and surgical junior house jobs at William Harvey Hospital in Kent and Guy's Hospital, London and Emergency Medicine roles at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth and Weston General Hospital, Weston-super-Mare.
In 2003, I started working at the Drug Safety Research Unit in Southampton, first as a Clinical Research Fellow in drug safety, then as Senior Clinical Research Fellow and Study Manager for the DARE (Drug-induced Arrhythmia Risk Evaluation) study, a national population pharmacogenetic study in collaboration study with St George's, University of London, funded by the British Heart Foundation. Whilst at the DSRU I competed a 3 week intensive course in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics at London School of Hygeine and Tropical Medicine and a Postgraduate course in Pharmaceutical Medicine at Cardiff University.
I joined the NIHR Nutrition Biomedical Research Unit as Manager in April 2014 and then became the manager of the Nutrition theme of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre from 2017 to 2022.
I moved to my current role as Manager of the Bristol Hub for Gambling Harms Research in November 2022.
