Biography
I first came to the University in 2012 as a masters student in the Film and Television department and I took on a temporary role in the Academic Quality and Police Office. I particularly enjoyed providing support to others in the University environment and I went onto utilise my experience as a research student and teacher to facilitate training and development for PGR students in the Bristol Doctoral College.
Wishing to build on my skills and knowledge, and support researchers with international research collaborations, I took on my current role of International Research Development Officer in September 2023.
Research interests
My academic research is concerned with the ideas about British national identity that were represented in the internationally successful films of the Harry Potter and James Bond series between 2001 and 2012. I am particularly interested in the role that the films' paratexts (promotional materials and merchandise) played in framing these representations. My approach highlights the use of analysing ephemera, a methodology championed by the New Film History and New Cinema History movements.
My MPhil thesis, which focuses on the Harry Potter films (2001, 2010, 2011), has been uploaded to the University library and is available to read:
