Biography
I read Chemistry as an undergraduate in Oxford before going on to complete my PhD in Supramolecular Chemistry under Professor Jeremy Sanders in Cambridge. I spent the next 10 years working in industry, beginning in R&D at Unilever where I then went on to work at the interface of the technical and marketing teams, acting as a translator and helping bring new technology to market. Following this I held similar Strategic Marketing / Innovation roles in various businesses before a career break to have my family. Upon starting back to work I have been fortunate to be able to join the University of Bristol and return to the forefront of research in Chemistry, with the opportunity to help realise the potential of the amazing scientific discoveries being made at the University in solving the many and varied world problems we see all around us.
With my background of working at the interface of technology and marketing in business for a long time, built on a foundation of Chemistry knowledge I am working to identify, develop and support translational projects across the School of Chemistry, building internal and external collaborations to help drive them forward. My role is largely that of a facilitator, seeking to bring the right people together and creating spaces and opportunities to enable the potential of the world class scienfic discoveries being made to be unlocked.
