My research focuses largely on the evolution, morphology and phylogenetics of tropical freshwater fishes with a particular interest in a large neotropical radiation of catfishes, Loricariidae. I use a variety of techniques such as computerised tomography (CT) scanning to obtain 3D images of the skeletal anatomy, feeding trials and molecular techniques to understand how morphology relates to ecology.  

I graduated from the University of Southampton with a BSc in biology, later completing her masters in biosystematics at Imperial College London and the Natural History Museum, London (NHM). My theses focused on the evolution of various catfishes using molecular information, morphological information and large data sets. Having volunteered at the NHM I have a strong background in the handling and preservation of specimens.

While not researching fishes, I am a keen fishkeeper that has given talks and written for multiple fishkeeping organisations. A big passion of mine is linking the science with the hobby/industry.
