Expertise
My research examines the creative filmmaking process of silent comedian Buster Keaton using new archival methods. The particular focus on Keaton’s work as the editor of his own films (1920-28) is guided by my own editing practice.

Biography
My practical research methods draw upon this professional experience as a film editor — in my PhD project I use editing techniques and technologies old and new to illuminate historical filmmaking practice, working with a variety of sources in physical and digital archives and examining material aspects of film prints and negatives to make new discoveries about how classic films were created.
