Research interests
I have written extensively on the historical development of company in the UK, on corporate theory, and on corporate governance - all from a critical perspective. My work is interdisciplinary in nature, drawing insights not only from legal scholarship but from political economy and social theory. I was one of the leading figures of the early critical legal studies movement in the UK, contributing to and co-editing the two volumes of the Critical Lawyers Handbook. More recently, I have been undertaking research into property and property theory, and developing an interest in property rights structures in Rural China.
