Accepting PhD students
I am currently looking for PhD students for themes listed below. It is possible to get university funding, but since these are highly competitive please get in touch as soon as possible so I guide you through the process.
Projects:
- Deep Learning for Computational Imaging
Modern imaging systems reach their full potential not only through hardware but also through advanced computational techniques. With an increasing reliance on data-driven and machine learning methods, today’s computational imaging is breaking new ground, enabling unprecedented precision, speed, and adaptability in capturing and interpreting complex visual information across a wide array of applications. This PhD project will advance to this vision by developing innovative algorithms for image reconstruction and analysis. You will explore key areas such as generative deep learning, optimization, and Bayesian sampling to deliver high-precision imaging with built-in uncertainty quantification. This work will address challenges such as compressed sensing, measurement-efficient imaging, and/or scenarios where labelled (ground-truth) data is limited, necessitating alternatives to traditional supervised learning. The scope of this project is flexible, allowing you to tailor research toward applications that excite you most. Whether you're interested in medical imaging—using advanced MRI techniques, ultrasound, or quantitative acoustic microscopy—or prefer tackling remote sensing problems for Earth observation, this project provides the freedom to shape your focus. Upon appointment you will be fully integrated into VI-Lab by the supervisors. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to conduct your ambitious research in collaboration with leading global research organizations and industries that we have partnered with though larger Research Council funded projects.
