Biography
I am Lecturer in Politics with Quantitative Research Methods at the University of Bristol. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California San Diego and my master's from the University of Chicago. I have also spent a year as a visiting fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
I research public opinion and how it affects political outcomes, such as elections and public policy. Most of my work refers to politics in the United States, but I am broadly interested in democracies across the globe. My research is forthcoming in the Journal of Politics.
Before moving into academia, I was a political reporter in some of the largest media in Brazil, my native country. I still frequently collaborate with them with opinion pieces on Brazilian and international politics.

Teaching
I have experience teaching modules on quantitative methodology, American politics, Latin American politics, race and ethnicity and public policy, at both the University of Bristol and the University of California San Diego. In April of 2022, I was nominated for the “Inspiring and Innovative Teaching Award” at the Bristol Teaching Awards – within less than three months after joining the University of Bristol.
I also cherish my mentoring duties, having advised many undergraduate and graduate students, most of whom were women or came from underrepresented backgrounds
