Research interests
I am a Graduate Teacher and PhD student in the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol and Research Associate for the Brigstow Research Institute.
My Phd research focuses on intergenerational programmes within educational or social care contexts. Specifically, I am interested in understanding the nature of relations between non-familial generations within these spaces. I apply a feminist new materialist and posthuman theoretical perspective to understanding intergenerational relations, drawing upon agential realism to explore how human and nonhuman actors, such as practitioners, objects, practices and policies influence inter/intra-actions between 'young' and 'old'.
I also experiment with alternative ways of researching/ evaluating intergenerational programmes, using creative approaches such as narrative and material methods inspired by post-qualitative scholarship. For example, see the creative storybook output I produced with designer/publisher Harry Flook, as part of the Rebuilding Bridges Intergenerational Music Programme evaluation.
I am interested in exploring concepts including: age, generation, care, childhood, play, agency and time.
