Biography
Research interests
Juan Carlos' overarching concern is how societies can achieve their common good from an institutional and economic perspective. He pursues this concern through four research themes, which appeal to it at different levels:
- Global capitalism and agency, particularly how social actors and institutions engage for economic growth, the democratisation of wealth and the diminishment of the negative effects of capitalism.
- Business schools and their role in training business leaders and managers, who ultimately drive firms to innovate, provide decent employment opportunities, and sustainably gain profits.
- Multinational companies and their innovative capacity, especially how they draw from innovation systems, both at home and in host countries.
- Technology parks as policy tools that enhance firms’ innovation and foster economic development.
He is especially keen to analyse these phenomena from the public management and policy perspective, with a geographical focus on emerging markets.
Please note that Juan Carlos is not accepting PhD students at the moment.
