Jennifer Haworth undertook her undergraduate training at the University of Bristol, graduating in 2008 with Honours, and winning the BDA Medal and the Dental Gold Medal. She worked in general dental practice for a year before being one of the first dentists embarking on the NIHR Clinical Academic Training pathway.  In 2012 she was awarded a Doctoral Research Training Fellowship worth £180,000 from the Wellcome Trust to study mechanisms of oral bacteria-induced platelet activation. Her postgraduate orthodontic training was completed at the University of Bristol and she was awarded the Orton Prize for best overall academic performance in the DDS programme. 
Jennifer undertook her post-CCST training in Orthodontics at Bristol Dental Hospital and the Royal United Hospital, Bath. She was appointed Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Orthodontics at the University of Bristol and Royal United Hospital, Bath in 2023. She enjoys teaching orthodontics to the whole dental team, from dental nurses, orthodontic therapists to undergraduates and postgraduates. A particular research interest currently is the importance of undertaking a higher degree during specialty training.
