Biography
After completing my Masters (MSc Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health) in 2020, I worked with children and young people as an Academic Mentor in a primary school and then through my role in the School Nursing Service. These roles have led to my particular interest in improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
Research interests
I am working on the 4S Study which aims to strengthen the support for education and youth organisations regarding the prevention of self-harm and suicide in young people and postvention (response after a suicide has occurred). I am involved in a scoping review and content analysis of existing guidance available to these settings and facilitate the advisory group sessions with young people and professionals supporting on the project.
Prior to this role I worked in the School Nursing Service, delivering the National Child Measurement Programme and providing healthy eating and physical activity advice and signposting to families.
My Masters degree research project involved a content analysis of print media articles regarding the coverage of physical activity guidelines for pregnant women. Whilst completing this project I also contributed to a study co-ordinated by the Rapid Research, Evaluation and Appraisal Lab (RREAL). I supported with the content analysis of print media articles regarding the perceptions and experiences of healthcare workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
