My work focuses on modelling how climate change is affecting the short-term viability of coral reef ecosystems worldwide.
In order to predict the future we first need a better understanding of the present, of how environmental factors (such as temperature, light availability and ocean pH) control the global distribution of coral reefs today. Once we have this we can look at how conditions are expected to change within the next 50 years, and try to project which new sites will be able to support coral reefs under the new conditions.
Im a joint PhD candidate between the Schools of Geography and Earth Sciences.
