Research interests
My research interests lie in novel adaptation and mitigation strategies to increase drought resilience. To this end, I am currently developing a decision-making tool for strategic water management (Wendt & Pianosi, in prep). Previous work in my PhD focused on modelling drought policy scenarios for a UK setting, identifying regional impact on drought mitigation by Managed Aquifer Recharge and assessing the assymetric impact of groundwater use on hydrological droughts in the UK.
Previous work experience focused on agricultural water use in rural highlands in Ethiopia for which I developed an inventory tool (Networc Foundation). In the Occupied Palestinian Territories, I worked on a water quality assessment (Wageningen University).
The goal of my research is develop a modelling tool that is informative for decision-making processes in drought management and identify suitable drought mitigation strategies. To this end, I am working with stakeholders at the Environment Agency, Wessex Water and Met Office.
