Research interests
My work explores varieties of achievement in fiction film and television, with particular focus on comedy, screen performance, and the construction of viewpoint. I am interested in the kinds of reasons that may be offered to explain an aesthetic response or support a critical appraisal, and in the challenges of description that arise when seeking to account for the specificity of an audiovisual work.
