After graduating from engineering school, I first worked as a consultant specialised in soil mechanics, and afterwards taught mathematics and operations at university level. In 1996 I moved to the UK, and gained MSc and PhD degrees from Lancaster University and the London School of Economics (LSE), respectively. Since then I have held various positions in academic institutions such as Strathclyde (Scotland), Warwick (England), and Pacifico (Peru), and spent research sabbaticals at IE (Spain) and Radboud (The Netherlands). Prior to joining Bristol, I spent 10 years at Loughborough University, and during this time I held senior leadership roles as Head of the Management Science and Operations Group, and as Associate Dean for Education.

I regularly translate the outcomes of my research into practical engagements with organisations in industry and government. Specifically, I design interventions to support the work of cross-functional and mutli-organisational teams in areas such as collaboration, problem solving, strategic decision making, and resource prioritization. Organisations I have worked for include, among others, Defra, Dstl, NHS, Ministry of Defence, Department for Transport, World Health Organisation, National Audit Office, Atkins, Network Rail, and several charities/SMEs and local authorities.

Additionally, I have been delivering executive education courses globally for more 20+ years, in locations across Europe, North and South America, and South East Asia
