• 14.30 Welcome from the Cabot Director (Prof Jemma Wadham)
• 14:35 Hello from the City Futures Theme Lead (Dr Katharina Burger)
• 14:40 Introduction to EU Horizon Europe research funding collaborative calls: Climate neutral and smart cities (Tom Bowker, Research Development International team)
• 15:00 Breakout sessions based on funding themes*:

 

1. Theme 1 - Multi-sectoral governance, new business and finance models for transition to urban sustainability and climate neutrality
2. Theme 2 - Balancing smart, traditional and nature-based solutions and promoting justice in the urban climate transitions
3. Theme 3 - Social innovation and lifestyle changes for improving cities’ carbon footprint, enhancing their resilience to climate change, and job creation capacity

 

• 15:05-15:15: 3 min presentations and pitches (state on sign-up form if you wish to give a 3 min presentation about past, ongoing or planned research in relation to this theme. We’ll be sending an updated invite with named speakers shortly before the event.)
• 15:15 – 15:30 Facilitated discussion/brainstorming/mapping session

 

*The themes are based on topics in the Horizon Europe Cluster 5 draft work programme. It is likely that these or similar topics will be included in the final programme. Individual topics in the Communities & Cities section are listed on p. 4 of the programme. Please note that the draft work programme is subject to change and is not to be shared outside of the University.
