Network* - network-MA, network-ing, and data to a deadline

17 May 2024, 1.00 PM - 17 May 2024, 2.00 PM

Maggie Westby (University of Bristol)

online

Methods in Evidence Synthesis seminar (MESS)

Maggie has worked in ARC-West since Sept 21. She is a systematic reviewer and methodologist and has been for about 20 years, 10 of which were on NICE guidelines and included developing methods for producing reviews to tight deadlines. Two of her Cochrane reviews are large network meta-analyses, which informed some early work of developers of NMA software apps.

Maggie will discuss conducting a large network meta-analysis to a tight deadline to inform a platform trial (on interventions for preventing postoperative AF following cardiac surgery). This will include: selective and minimal data extraction; use and comparison of different NMA apps; applying GRADE for NMA in practice; presentation of results in a user-friendly way; and iterative NMA analyses to inform intervention prioritisation committee decision making, alongside survey results, all within an informal plan-do-study-act approach.
