What do you think about using chatbots to offer weight management support?

11 July 2024, 10.00 AM - 11 July 2024, 1.00 PM

Senate House, Tyndall Avenue, BS8 1TQ

What do you think about using chatbots to offer NHS patients support with their weight while they are on a waiting list for non-urgent surgery? We want to bring together members of the public, health care practitioners and researchers to take part in a workshop. We’re keen to hear from people who’ve never had involvement in digital tools for healthcare, right through to those who already have lots of expertise and experience.

You do not need to know anything about AI or chatbots – all will be explained at the workshop. The workshop will be supported by an expert in AI who will demonstrate some chatbots for us, and will be able to tell us whether any of our ideas for a new chatbot would be practical. The workshop will be led by Dr Joanna McLaughlin who is a public health doctor and researcher at the University of Bristol
Medical School.

We are interested in finding out whether you think chatbots for weight management support would be useful to the NHS and to discuss any ideas, hopes and concerns you can share with us on this topic. Interested participants may like to be involved in creating a collaborative research proposal following the workshop, but all that is asked of you at the moment is to consider joining us to give your views and hear from others.

A catered lunch will be provided. Travel costs will be reimbursed.

If you would like to participate or would like to hear more about the workshop then please get in touch:  joanna.mclaughlin@bristol.ac.uk
