PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

This 2-day course consists of a series of in-person lectures covering all aspects of human brain anatomy in a very clear and accessible way. These are integrated with live neuroanatomy video demonstrations and 'hands-on' practical sessions using preserved human brain specimens and detailed anatomical models. Guided by a team of experienced anatomy demonstrators, the practical component will help consolidate your learning and give you a solid, three-dimensional understanding of the human brain.

Once you register you will receive instant access to a series of high-quality online modules to help you prepare for the attendance course:

  • Overview of the human brain - parts 1 and 2
  • Brain development and anatomy
  • Motor and sensory areas of the cerebral cortex
  • Rise and fall of the limbic system concept
  • Anatomy of memory and emotion (limbic lobe, hippocampus, amygdala)
  • Anatomy review - using a detailed brain model
  • Consolidation module - using coronal sections of a preserved human brain

These modules, prepared and narrated by Dr Johns, provide a broad introduction to structural and functional neuroanatomy - and include self-test questions at the end of each section. The online materials will also be available after the in-person course, for review and consolidation.
