Areas of expertise |
My work attempts to understand how the process of natural selection has shaped the behaviour of organisms. Typically I formalise the decision problem facing an organism in mathematical terms, and applied suitable optimisation techniques to predict the behaviour that will evolve. Particular interests include evolutionary game theory, especially as it applies to mating behaviour; the evolution of psychological mechanisms; and the way in which physiology mediates life-history trade offs, including an organism's rate of ageing.
