Areas of expertise |
I graduated with distinction from Bristol University (2006) with an MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity & Public Health. My dissertation looked at the effect of the Bristol University Staff Transport Plan on levels of walking and cycling amongst employees. I then worked as a Research Assistant on the Welsh Assembly-funded Free Breakfast Evaluation at Cardiff Institute of Society, Health & Ethics. This looked at how providing a free breakfast to schoolchildren influenced factors such as memory, concentration and behaviour.
I have now returned to the Department of Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences at Bristol University as the Project Co-ordinator of the Bristol 3Ps Project. This is a BHF-funded study investigating the role of friends and family on physical activity in 10-11 year old children. My research interests include social and environmental influences on diet and exercise in children and the role of active commuting in public health.
