Since starting at the Division of Primary Care I have completed a research project investigating the role of the pharmacy counter assistant in the provision of over-the-counter medicines. I have just started on a new project that will examine the appointment systems used by GP practices and in particular the effectiveness of the system known as 'Advanced Access'.
I am a social scientist with a particular interest in health related qualitative research. I took a first degree in sociology at the University of the West of England. I then completed a postgraduate diploma in social science research methods and a PhD at Cardiff University. My PhD examined the doctor-patient relationship in the field of chronic fatigue syndrome.
