BBMDVP John F.H. Thompson to become new Aegis Professor in Earth Sciences

Dr John F.H. Thompson has been appointed Honorary Professor of Sustainable Resources in the School of Earth Sciences from January 2021. 

Dr Thompson visited the School of Earth Sciences from Cornell University, USA, as Bristol Benjamin Meaker Distinguished Visiting Professor from December 2019 - January 2020, hosted by Professor Alison Rust. His research topic during his visit was 'Enhancing the sustainable supply of critical metals with a focus on copper' and you can view his BBMDVP profile page here.

Following on from his successful visit and ongoing collaborations, Earth Sciences have appointed him Honorary Professor of Sustainable Resources, one of four new Aegis professors appointed by the Faculty, he will start his three-year term in January 2021. 

In his new role as Aegis Professor, Dr Thompson will work with faculty and students to investigate the complex issues facing society in the exploitation of the earth’s resources.
