Information for advisers and parents

Student support

We work hard to make sure students thrive on the International Foundation Programme (IFP).

The Personal and Professional Development for Aspiring Clinicians unit will support students in their personal and professional behaviours and help them adjust to university life in the UK. Students will also have an academic personal tutor to advise them on their academic path.

For more information about student support, don't hesitate to contact us on fohs-ifp@bristol.ac.uk.

Health and wellbeing support

The University of Bristol is committed to providing the best learning experience for students, including support for their health and wellbeing.

Course information

The course does not aim to replicate the A-level or International Baccalaureate curriculum.

Students will benefit from:
  • a strong syllabus
  • a range of teaching and learning methods
  • a range of assessments
  • clear learning outcomes
  • appropriate subject-specific preparation for further study in Dentistry.

Students who successfully complete the IFP will gain the award of a Certificate of Achievement.

Degree progression

The programme is designed to help students to make competitive applications for undergraduate degree courses in Dentistry in the UK, including those offered at Bristol.

Students will not progress directly from the IFP to a Dentistry degree. However, students who successfully complete the IFP are guaranteed a place in the multiple mini interview selection process.

If students do not meet all the entry requirements of the Dentistry course, we may be able to offer a place on a Life Science degree, subject to academic performance in the IFP.

Students are also free to apply for courses at other universities.

Accommodation and visas

We will work closely with the Accommodation and Student Visas to ensure that all IFP students receive support in finding accommodation and securing a visa.
