Liberal Arts at Bristol
Our rich and challenging liberal arts programme allows you to explore the Arts and Humanities while building crucial skills in analysis and communication that will be valuable to you throughout your degree and beyond. Liberal Arts students have the unique advantage of being able to choose units from throughout the Faculty of Arts, which is home to the School of Humanities, the School of Arts, and the School of Modern Languages.
Study Abroad (Subject pathway)
Liberal Arts subject pathway students can take units from across the Faculty of Arts. Please see each subject guides for information on the units available on your programme:

As a Liberal Arts exchange student, you are expected to take units from across more than one department/discipline within the Faculty of Arts.
If you are coming to Bristol through a Liberal Arts exchange, we recommend taking one or two interdisciplinary units within the Liberal Arts programme so that you can become more embedded within our community. You can find these units in the box below.
Liberal Arts subject pathway students can take units from the Bristol Liberal Arts programme. These units will be most suitable for students on the Liberal Arts exchange programme:
Year 1 (level C/4)
- History of the Present (TB2) - AFAC10011
- The Art of Writing (TB1) - AFAC10016
Year 2 (level I/5)
- Arts in the Age of Data (TB1) - AFAC20007
- Experiencing the Aesthetic (TB2) - AFAC20003
- Ideas and Society (TB1) - AFAC20002
Year 3 (level H/6)
- The Public Role of the Humanities (TB2) - HUMS30001. This unit is also offered at M/7 level (postgraduate level) as HUMSM0002.
Auditing
Students cannot audit units. Study abroad students are fully registered on units for credit purposes and must attend teaching only for classes that they are registered on.
